Edrington has launched a limited-edition Highland Park in partnership with Danish celebrity photographer Søren Solkær.

The 26-year-old whisky is matured in sherry-seasoned American oak casks and first-fill Bourbon casks. It was created to honour Solkær, who is best-known for photographing musicians and bands including Björk, The White Stripes, REM and U2. The photographer has worked with Highland Park since 2016 taking pictures of the Orkney distillery and its employees.

The bottle comes with a 230-page book containing some of Solkær's images.

Edrington has released a number of new Highland Park expressions recently. In April, it unveiled a new 16-year-old Highland Park in the UK called Twisted Tattoo. That launch followed the release of a Highland Park 50 Year Old in September last year.

Edrington has lined up a permanent extension of its The Macallan single malt Scotch whisky brand.

Estate, which will be available in the UK from July, comprises liquid made using barley grown on the same site as The Macallan distillery on the banks of the River Spey. The home-grown barley is used for an annual distillation over 

The packaging of the new iteration features an inlay of slate in the presentation box and aerial photography of the Macallan estate.

"Our Easter Elchies estate lies within the legendary Speyside region of Scotland, a place … that we are proud to call home." said The Macallan's whisky maker, Sarah Burgess. "The Macallan Estate is a … complex spirit that pays homage to the fertile Speyside lands where The Macallan is located and celebrates the unrivalled craftsmanship for which we have been known since 1824."

In results from the 12 months to the end of March 2018, released almost a year ago, privately-owned Edrington said sales of The Macallan brand rose by 7% on the corresponding period a year earlier.

Το trend δείχνει σημαντική πτώση των τιμών Macallan NAS ειδικά των πρόσφατων "συλλεκτικών" εκδόσεων και μάλλον και αυτό θα ακολουθήσει την ιστορία 😉

εγώ καταλαβαίνω πως περίμενε πολλά περισσότερα έχοντας στο μυαλό του το περσινό 32αρι και κρίνοντας και απ΄οτην τιμή για 500ml. βέβαια το 88/100 έρχεται σε αντιπαράθεση με τη ντελευταία του πρόταση οπότε δεν ξέρω κατά πόσο αντικειμενική είναι η βαθμολογία του σ αυτήν την περίπτωση.

Επίσης στον συγκεκριμένο έχω παρατηρήσει πως όποια εμφιάλωση υπάρχει στο twe ή στο mom παίρνει έξτρα ποντάκια και πάντοτε δίνει και το λινκ που μπορείς να το αγοράσεις οπότε με βάζει σε σκέψεις αν το 90 είναι όντως 90, το 88 όντως 88 κοκ.

Είναι σίγουρο οτι η τιμή (Και αλλά θέματα όπως παλιότερες εμφιάλωσεις) επηρεάζει την βαθμολογία όταν είναι φανερή γευσιγνωσία Και είναι και ένας από τους λόγους μου που δε  βαθμολογώ στην προσωπική μου ζωή. Τώρα το θέμα με τα links είναι λεπτό αν γίνεται μόνο στις εμφιάλωσεις που είναι κατά αποκλειστικη διάθεση οκ αν όχι πιθανόν να παίζει sponsorship 🤔

Diageo has released details of the latest iteration in the Noble Collection line from Canadian whisky brand Crown Royal. Launching this month in the US, this year's expression comprises Crown Royal Fine De Luxe whisky that has spent time in French oak casks.

The US-only series kicked off in 2016 with Cornerstone Blend, with a wine barrel-finished expression following a year later. Almost exactly 12 months ago, 13-Year-Old Blenders' Mash was released in the US.

"Our ability to elevate Crown Royal Fine De Luxe using innovative materials to bring out new flavors was an exciting experience for this team of veteran blenders," said Crown Royal master blender Mark Balkenende. "We are always looking for ways to experiment with the brand's flavour profile and with Crown Royal Noble Collection French Oak Cask Finished, it is evident how intentional changes in barrel selection and aging can enhance the flavour while elevating the signature smoothness of Crown Royal Fine De Luxe."

Earlier this year, Diageo added a peach variant to the flavoured Crown Royal portfolio in the US.

Edrington's Highland Park Scotch whisky brand has teamed up with a charity on its home island of Orkney to ready a limited edition single malt expression. An unspecified portion of the sales of Ness of Brodgar's Legacy will be donated to the Ness of Brodgar Trust, which is funding an archaeological excavation on Orkney.

Limited to 5,000 units, the iteration comprises 12-year-old single malt that will be available on Orkney toward the end of the month. Then, consumers will be able to purchase any remaining bottles from the Highland Park website in July.

Located on the mainland in the chain of Orkney islands, the Ness of Brodgar is a Neolithic site that dates back 5,000 years. Excavation takes place over the summer only, with each digging period costing around GBP200,000 (US$254,000).

"Our brand vision is to honour the proud spirit of Orkney, we aim to do this through working with and supporting organisations in our local community," said Highland Park global brand director Jason Craig. "After meeting with the Ness of Brodgar Trust, we were inspired by their dedication, patience and willing to do the right thing and not rush their highly skilled work."

Independent Scotch whisky bottler Douglas Laing & Co has launched an extension of its Xtra Old Particular single cask line. The Black Series kicks off with a 1994 cask from Springbank Distillery, where a total of 148 bottles have been sourced from an ex-Sherry hogshead.

Each unit features an embossed metal label, a glass stopper and the signatures of Fred and Cara Laing, the father-daughter duo and second and third-generation of Douglas Laing & Co.

Cara Laing, director of whisky, described the XOP Black series as an "extraordinary encapsulation of everything our family business proudly represents".

"The maiden release in this new Single Cask Series certainly sets an exceptionally high  benchmark for future bottlings, and we are poised to rise to that challenge."

Loch Lomond Group has added a limited edition 2003 vintage single malt to its Glen Scotia Scotch whisky portfolio. The Rum Cask Finish single malt is being released following the Campbeltown Malts Festival, which was held in Glen Scotia's home town of Campbeltown last month.

The expression has been bottled at cask strength - 51.3% abv - with 9,500 bottles available worldwide. 

Iain McAlister, distillery manager at Glen Scotia, said: "Our new limited edition rum cask single malt offers whisky fans something very special, bringing together the maritime influences associated with Campbeltown and the sweet, tropical notes of rum - another sea-faring spirit.

Το Springbank έβγαλε πριν 3-4 μήνες single cask oloroso 24y 46.2% UK only στις 399 λιρες. Και μιλάμε για επίσημη εμφιάλωση! Εδώ έχουμε καθαρή κλοπή απο IB. Και γενικότερα έχουμε φτάσει σε σημείο οι IB να ξεφεύγουν σε τιμές όσον αφορά στο Springbank. Οπότε για μένα είναι καθαρή κλοπή!

Προσωπικά προτιμώ αυτό πού κάνουν μερικά μαγαζιά στην Αμερική πού πουλάνε Pappy στις κανονικές τιμές αλλά σού ανοίγουν το μπουκάλι ώστε να μην το ξαναπουλησεις (νομίζω το έχουμε ξανά συζητήσει το θέμα εδώ μέσα 🤔)
