Μάλιστα.... αφού φάγαμε το κράξιμο της αρκούδας σε όλα τα μήκη και πλάτη του κόσμου, αφού ο κόσμος το έχει τούμπανο κι εμείς οι Κινέζοι κάνουμε την πάπια Πεκίνου, τελικά θα βοηθήσουμε το Transparency λέγοντας ότι το blend..... περιέχει blend και ελπίζοντας μέχρι το 2020 να έχουμε καταλήξει σε μια προτεινόμενη νομοθεσία.

Το βγάλαμε και Αο (Αν Οα λέμε στο Ardbeg και κλαίμε) το κάναμε και μπλέ (μετά το Τζόνυ μπλε θα έχουμε και Σαντόρι Μπλέ) - ακόμα και στην αντιγραφή χάλια τα πάνε, και φυσικά επειδή μας έχουν κράξει επίσης πάρα πολύ, αρχικά θα το πουλάμε 50 USD. 

Τώρα, τι σημαίνει "αρχικά" και τι θα πετύχει το μάρκετινγκ των αγαπητών σχιστομάτηδων σε 1-2 χρόνια (σαν να το βλέπω μπροστά μου "Το Μοναδικό Αποστακτήριο που Τόλμησε!!" "Οι πρωτοπόροι της Διαφάνειας!!" κλπ κλπ κλπ) αναμένεται να το δούμε. Επίσης (πάντα καλοπροαίρετα) αναμένουμε να δούμε τι περιέχει μέσα (σε ποσοστό) από τα 5 malts (γιατί και το Τζόνυ μπλε...έχει Port Ellen μέσα  ? )και τι από Japan whiskey (φυσικά θα πρέπει να είμαστε και σίγουροι ότι το Japan είναι Japan).

Σε κάθε περίπτωση, ευπρόσδεκτη η προσπάθεια του Suntory να ρίξει τις τιμές και να μας πει τι υπάρχει μέσα στο μπουκάλι, προσωπικά αν έρθει Κύπρο ή Ελλάδα θα το ήθελα.

The founder of Georgetown Trading Co has created two American whiskey iterations that honour James E Pepper, a whiskey distiller in Kentucky during the 19th Century. Amir Peay has partnered with Spirit Cartel to secure UK distribution for:

• James E. Pepper 1776 Straight Rye Whiskey 92 Proof, 46% abv, RRP of GBP45 (US$60) per bottle
• James E. Pepper 1776 Straight Rye Whiskey Barrel Proof, 57.3% abv, GBP55 per bottle

Both will be released across Europe and Asia, as well as Australia, in the coming months.

"We are extremely proud of our 1776 Rye whiskies and to be able to bring these award-winning spirits to new consumers is truly gratifying," said Peay. "We are very much looking forward to expanding our fan base in the UK with the help of Spirit Cartel."

The Pepper family set up two distilleries in Kentucky, the first of which was built in 1879. Operations ceased in 1958 and Peay has restarted operations at one of the facilities.

The American whiskey segment of the spirits category is enjoying impressive growth rates in its domestic market. Volumes have jumped from 17.6m nine-litre cases in 2013, to 21.3m in 2017, according to GlobalData. By 2022, American whiskey volumes at home are forecast to hit 27.2m cases, a near-55% rise on ten years prior.

Heaven Hill Brands has released the Spring 2019 iteration of its Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. The expression is comprised of barrels laid down in September 2005, and it was bottled in February of 2019. The 2019 release is the third in the series.

"As was the case for the past editions, this edition's tax strip, which has always been a signature of transparency on bottled-in-bond products, will disclose when the liquid was produced and bottled," the distillery said.

The whiskey, which is available on allocation, carries an RRP of US$130.

"It meets the strict requirements of a bottled-in-bond: the product of a single distillery from a single distilling season, aged a minimum of four years, and bottled at 100 proof or 50% alcohol by volume," Heaven Hill added.

Diageo has rolled out a 12-year-old expression from its Bulleit American whiskey stable. Bulleit Rye 12-Year-Old Straight American Whiskey is the first extension of the brand.

The whiskey, which is made using a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley, was aged in new charred oak for a minimum of 12 years.

Ian Macleod has added a new expression to the Glengoyne Cask Strength series. Cask Strength Batch No. 007 is the first in the range to feature a small proportion of Bourbon barrels in the cask recipe, the company said.  

Other casks in the recipe include first-fill European and American oak Oloroso sherry casks and refill casks.

"The Bourbon parcel we used in the distillation of Glengoyne Cask Strength Batch No.007 brought in a sweetness and a burst of vanilla, which adds a roundness and depth to this sherry-dominant whisky," said Glengoyne malt master John Glass. "The Bourbon plays a light, but important part in the overall cask recipe."

Earlier this year, the distiller launched The Glengoyne Legacy Series: Chapter One - a no-age-statement single malt.

Brown-Forman brings Jack Daniel’s No. 27 Gold Tennessee Whiskey to US

Jack Daniel’s No. 27 Gold Tennessee Whiskey carries an RRP of US$99.99

Brown-Forman has released a "double-barreled and double-mellowed" expression of its flagship Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 Tennessee Whiskey in the US.

The company said today that Jack Daniel's No. 27 Gold is now available nationwide. The roll-out to the US follows an initial launch for the brand in the Global Travel Retail channel, as well as in selected markets in Asia. The iteration was also released in the UK in 2015.

The whiskey, which carries an RRP of US$99.99, is matured in new charred American white oak barrels before being moved into maple wood barrels. The final step is a "second-time charcoal mellowing" before the whiskey is bottled.

"The natural amber hue, along with a scent of toasted oak and honey, offer an intricate texture and taste, making this whiskey a very distinct and luxury product," said Jack Daniel's master distiller Jeff Arnett.

Last October, Brown-Forman announced a new line for the Jack Daniel's brand that focussed on limited-release experimental launches.

Edrington has launched a new 16-year-old Highland Park in the UK.

Twisted Tattoo is the first expression from the Orkney distillery to combine whisky matured in Rioja seasoned wine casks and first-fill Bourbons casks. Its name is taken from the Viking legend of the Midgard serpent, which grew so large it twisted around the Earth to bite its own tail.

The launch follows the release of a Highland Park 50 Year Old in September last year.

To create the packaging, Highland Park partnered with Danish tattoo artist Colin Dale, who specialises in the dot-work tattooing - a non-electric tattoo technique.

Halewood Wines & Spirits has launched a 12-year-old Tennessee Bourbon in the UK, called American Eagle. The company said the roll-out targets growing demand in the UK for whiskies from around the world as well as premium products.

American Eagle won a gold medal at the 2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, which was held in March.

A spokesperson for Halewood declined to give details on which distillery has produced American Eagle.

Halewood recently announced the opening of a business unit in Australia. The company said in March that its new business, Halewood Australia, will import and market its UK-produced brands including the Whitley Neill, Dead Man's Fingers, Aber Falls, JJ Whitley and Peaky Blinder spirits ranges. Halewood also took a majority stake in the Ironbark Distillery in New South Wales.

Whyte & Mackay has launched a Sherry-cask-finished expression of its Tamnavulin Speyside single malt. Sherry Cask Edition is matured in American white oak barrels and finished in three different types of Oloroso Sherry casks.

The iteration joins Double Cask in the Tamnavulin portfolio, which was relaunched by Whyte & Mackay in 2016.

Irish spirits group Walsh Whiskey has launched a new Writers' Tears expression that is a blend of aged single pot still and single malt whiskeys. The company said Writers' Tears Double Oak has been made possible through a partnership with the Legaret family, who produce Cognac.

The partnership also allowed for the release of Writers' Tears Cognac Cask in February.

Double Oak is aged in two types of wood - American and French oak. The expression comprises triple-distilled, non-chill filtered liquid that is bottled at 46% abv.

The launch comes five months after Walsh terminated its joint-venture with Illva Saronno. The two companies had partnered on the building of a distillery in Ireland, however the termination saw Walsh revert to brand owner status while Saronno retained ownership of the distillery.

Diageo has released a 13-year-old, bottled-in-bond whiskey under its George Dickel brand.

The first bottles of George Dickel Bottled in Bond will be available from the shop at Cascade Hollow Distilling Co in Tennessee from Friday, before rolling out to retailers nation-wide later in the month.

Whiskey certified with the bottled-in-bond designation has to be aged at least four years and bottled at 100 proof at one distillery during a single season. The whiskey has to be stored in a federally-bonded warehouse. 

"We wanted George Dickel Bottled in Bond to be rooted in authenticity, quality and truth," said Nicole Austin, general manager & distiller. "The aged whisky stocks we have access to here at Cascade Hollow are absolutely beautiful, and it's important to me that we create whisky that's sure to be a great value for the quality you're getting."
