A few words for DISTELL and this section - Special Thanks!

Recommended Posts

Dear Hellenic Malt Whisky Society and Whiskyforum members,

It is our honour and pleasure to have a Global Brand of great heritage and tradition to generously contribute to our interviews section.
Needless to mention that it is my personal honour and once in a lifetime opportunity to have the chance to discuss, either in person or via an extensive exchange of e-mails with highly distinguished and acclaimed members of the Whisky Industry.
I take this opportunity to thank:

  • Mr. Andy Watts Head of Whisky Intrinsic Excellence – DISTELL, Master Distiller at James Sedgwick Distillery – South Africa and Global Icon of Whisky Master Distiller/ Master Blender for 2018
  • Mr. Stephen Woodcock, Distilleries Manager – DISTELL, responsible for Bunnahabhain, Deanston and Tobermory / Ledaig Distilleries,
  • Mr. Derek Scott, Brand Director - DISTELL

for providing their interview part, each of them from a different point of view as per their responsibilities and managerial tasks.

Least but not last, I feel that I have to personally thank Mr. Jorgen Andersson, Regional Manager - Northern and Southern Europe – DISTELL, for facilitating all these tasks, making this possible and for providing us with his part of this interview series. Most of all, for having the chance to meet him during a Cyprus based event (organized by our friends at The Cyprus Whisky Association) and discuss about whisky and, of course, to have a personal view of his excellent whisky presentation skills.

For the first time in our whiskyforum, and to the best of my knowledge to Greece, we have the unique opportunity to educate ourselves through detailed and informative responses to topics covering all aspects of whisky industry, from production, to planning and managing and up to promoting and selling.
Today, we also have the opportunity to travel far away from our beloved Scotland and obtain a first-hand experience from the only commercial Distillery in South Africa, with a history of more than 130 years, spanning between three centuries, The James Sedgwick Distillery.
For those of you, (if any) not familiar with DISTELL, the list of Global awards of the above-mentioned Distilleries speaks for itself. Moreover, You are kindly invited to visit DISTELL https://www.distell.co.za/home/  and explore the wines and spirits brands under management.
For those of you that want to educate yourselves more about DISTELL, please be my guest and visit (other than the above link) at least the whisky related brands that DISTELL is managing, in alphabetical order.
