Ετοιμαστείτε για άλλη μια χρονιά με πολύ NAS attack, αλλά και με εξαιρετικά ενδιαφέροντα αποστάγματα, νασιές και μη.

Ας πάρουμε μια πρώτη γεύση από την καπνισμένη νήσο, τι μας επιφυλάσσει ένα μέρος της ακτής του Kildalton αυτή την άνοιξη.........

".....the darkest Ardbeg ever...." & "....the richest Laphroaig of the rich....." (άν το τερμάτισαν ή όχι, είναι θέμα για κουβέντα στην επόμενη συνάντηση του φόρουμ...)

Με εξαιρεση 2 φορες που εβαλα βαθια το χερι στην τσεπη για NAS μπουκαλια (ενα Οld Pulteney Pentlant και ενα laphroaig An Cuan More) εχω βαλει αυστηρο οριο τα 40 45 ευρω πλεον για τετοιες αγορες και μονο σε περιπτωση που μου κινησουν πολυ το ενδιαφερον!

νταξει και το uigeadail και το corryvrackan nas ειναι αλλά 60 euro τα αξίζουν..πάντα θα υπάρχουν και οι εξαιρέσεις που επιβεβαιώνουν τον κανόνα.....

Ναι και το συγκεκριμένο Ardbeg προς Uigedail μεριά το πάνε (sherry casks). Λόγω προσωπικών γούστων προτιμώ την πλευρά Corryvreckan όμως, που ακολουθούν την κλασική νησιωτική γραμμή των bourbon casks.

Αντιθέτως το Lore μου κίνησε το ενδιαφέρον.

Τιμή που βλέπω Αγγλία φαίνεται λίγο πιο πάνω από το παρελθόν αλλά σε σχετικά λογικά πλαίσια. Θα έρθει και Ελλάδα και θα δούμε τιμή

Ξεχάστε αυτό....

...γιατί έρχεται αυτό !

Μιλάμε για μια κλασσική περίπτωση re-branding. Πλέον το αγαπημένο μυστικό πολλών fan της φίρμας θα πλαισιώσει την υπόλοιπη στάνταρ γκάμα Jameson, και θα το βρίσκει κάποιος πολύ πιο εύκολα, αφού θα κυκλοφορήσει σχεδόν σε όλη την Ευρώπη. Διαβάζω την παρουσίαση που είχα κάνει για αυτό στο φόρουμ (http://www.whiskyforum.gr/forums/index.php?/topic/1309-jameson-crested-ten-nas-40/) και εύχομαι να παραμείνει το ίδιο σε ποιότητα. Μιλάμε για ένα blend που περιέχει 6-8 ετών pure pot still whiskey, υψηλό ποσοστό του οποίου έχει ωριμάσει σε oloroso sherry casks....

Μετά την επιτυχία που είχε η καθιέρωση των C/S batches του Glendronach, η ίδια μικρή ανεξάρτητη εταιρία που έχει και το Benriach, αποφάσισε να κάνει το ίδιο και σε αυτό. Έτσι το Benriach C/S batch1 είναι γεγονός. Να ευχηθούμε να πάει κι αυτό καλά.

BenRiach plans to regularly release cask strength batches from its Elgin distillery.

The whisky chosen for Batch 1 is classic BenRiach in style but at a cask strength of 57.2% ABV.

Sales director Alistair Walker says: “Cask Strength Batch 1 is another momentous and exciting ‘first’ for the BenRiach distillery. This stunning Speyside whisky, with all its classic BenRiach characteristics, is the first Cask Strength expression to be added to our core range, allowing us to showcase the true BenRiach style in its most natural state - straight from the cask to the bottle, non-chill filtered and at its natural colour, allowing the distillery's unique spirit to shine through.

H εταιρία Douglas Laing λανσάρει το νέο της blended malt, που θα συμπληρώσει τη γκάμα των Big Peat, Rock Oyster, Timorous Beastie και Scallywag. To 'Epicurean' περιέχει malts από τα Lowlands, non-coloured, non-chillfiltered σε 46.2%vol.

Tasting Notes:

In a tipple of our Small Batch Epicurean, you can bet on a nose that is barley rich, citric, floral and herbal. The mouth-coatingly sweet palate displays crunched sugar, burnt citrus, mixed spices, thyme, peaches and hard candy… All charmingly underpinned and enriched in the finish with more of that earlier herbal character, in a gristy style with almonds, cut grass and burnt sugar.

Πέρσυ κυκλοφόρησε το 'The Duthac', το πρώτο της σειράς 'Legends' από το Glenmorangie. Σειρά πήρε φέτος το 2ο, ονόματι 'The Tayne'.

Όσοι ταξιδεύετε πολύ θα το βλέπετε τακτικά μπροστά σας, στα DF των αεροδρομίων.

Από την Αμερική η νέα κυκλοφορία, και πάλι θα τη δουν πρώτοι όσοι ταξιδεύουν στην Βόρεια Ευρώπη κυρίως.

Jim Beam Double Oak is bottled at 43% abv will launch in a 1-litre format in July and exclusively through Gebr. Heinemann in European Travel Retail. The product carries an RRP of €26.50 and will be available with a GWP bag.

Other Jim Beam Double Oak formats will be rolled out in domestic markets soon.

Ολόφρεσκο από το Campbeltown...

We are happy to announce the release of the new Springbank Burgundy Aged 12 Years that will be available in the UK from this weekend and worldwide within the next few weeks. This has been matured in Fresh Burgundy Casks and bottled at cask strength 53.5%vol.

The tasting notes for this new release are:

Nose: Bold and rich with mineral and dunnage warehouse notes combining with maple syrup, pancetta, cranberry and red currants.
Palate: A soft velvet like texture with buttered brown toast and chocolate shortbread complimenting light herb & oak notes.
Finish: A medium dry finish gives up liquorice and mint accompanied woody tannins

Μια νέα και μόνιμη προσθήκη στην γκάμα του αγαπημένου Redbreast, η ιστορία του έχει ως εξής..

REDBREAST SHERRY FINISH LUSTAU EDITION IS INITIALLY MATURED IN TRADITIONAL BOURBON AND SHERRY CASKS FOR A PERIOD OF 9 TO 12 YEARS. IT IS THEN FINISHED FOR ONE EXTRA YEAR IN FIRST FILL SHERRY BUTTS WHICH HAVE BEEN SEASONED WITH OLOROSO SHERRY FROM THE PRESTIGIOUS BODEGAS LUSTAU IN JEREZ, SPAIN.

Born of a unique collaboration between the prestigious Bodegas Lustau in Jerez, Spain and the Midleton Distillery in County Cork, Redbreast Lustau Edition offers Redbreast fans a new way to experience our signature Sherry taste. As you know, the Sherry casks used in the production of Redbreast come from the Paez Morilla Cooperage in Jerez. A selection of these casks were then seasoned with Oloroso Sherry from the renowned Bodegas Lustau. With frequent trips back and forth, our Master Blender Billy Leighton worked hand in hand with Manuel Lozano, Lustau’s Chief Winemaker, to bring Redbreast Sherry Finish Lustau Edition to fruition. Together, Billy and Manuel carefully selected some of the world’s finest Oloroso Sherry butts in the Bodega that were each perfectly seasoned before sending onto Midleton.

Once in the Midleton distillery, these handpicked Lustau Sherry butts were filled with matured Single Pot Still Irish whiskey of the Redbreast lineage which had been initially matured in a combination of exceptional ex-Bourbon and ex-Oloroso Sherry casks. This Single Pot Still Whiskey then spent a full year in the Lustau Sherry butts in order to heighten the Sherry notes.

The working teams behind this project have been led by two exceptional experts: Billy Leighton, Master Blender of Irish Distillers, and Manuel Lozano, Lustau's winemaker who very sadly passed away last April.

Manuel Lozano, or “Manolo”, has driven Lustau in the last years to the highest levels of international recognition and prestige. Awarded for 7 consecutive years as the “Best Fortified Winemaker” worldwide, Manolo has become a fundamental part of Lustau’s history. His generous spirit and expertise lives on in Lustau’s wines, and of course, also in this new Redbreast edition.

Upon the recent launch of Redbreast Sherry Finish Lustau Edition in the exclusive Bodegas Lustau itself, Billy Leighton described the partnership and what we can all look forward to:

Νέο-μοντέρνο παρουσιαστικό η πρώτη αλλαγή, προσθήκη νέων εμφιαλώσεων με ηλικιακό προσδιορισμό η δεύτερη και μικρολεπτομέρειες αυτών. Εντύπωση προκαλεί η κυκλοφορία 2 νέων εκδόσεων 12 ετών, με μία εξ'αυτών (που προορίζεται αποκλειστικά για την Travel Retail αγορά) σε παραπάνω βαθμούς αλκοόλ και χωρίς chill-filtering!

Το τελευταίο ονομάζεται και 'Rare Edition', αντικαθιστά το 16yo που πλέον καταργείται, και ακούγονται θετικά σχόλια.

Τα επίσημα χείλη του αποστακτηρίου, μέσω του Jason Daniel της Gruppo Campari στο οποίο και ανήκει το αποστακτήριο, λένε τα ακόλουθα

Celtic αυτό που βλέπω (γενικά, ελπίζω να μην κάνω λάθος) είναι ότι υπάρχει μια στροφή στο age statement από το NAS. Μάλλον ο φίλος μας ο Serge είχε δίκιο και τώρα που υπάρχουν τα ηλικιακά πλεονάσματα στο στοκ έχουμε age statement επιστροφές. Μεγάλο αποστακτήριο και το Glen Grant και παρόλο που δεν μπορώ να πω ότι μου αρέσει ιδιαίτερα η γεύση του, δεν είναι αδιάφορο. Με μεγάλη περιέργεια θα περιμένω να δω αν θα υπάρξουν και άλλες αλλαγές (βαρέλια κλπ) και φυσικά σε πρώτη ευκαιρία θα το δοκιμάσω.
